New book on Bulgarian prehistory was just released. The book contains 48 pages of text (in English)and 26 pages of 39 color Figures.

The book presents the results of excavations of prehistoric cemetery of Smyadovo. Between 2005 and 2008 there were studied a total number of 32 burials where 36 individuals were buried and two graves are defined as symbolic. Twenty six burials belong to the Chalcolithic period, while six are from the so called “Transitional Period” and the Early Bronze Age.
Besides the description and analysis of the burials, the book contains a catalog of each of the graves. The catalog provides detailed information about location, position, inventory and all the analyzes - anthropological, AMS dating, chemical composition of the copper, bronze and gold artifacts, petrographic and others.
The illustrative part contains 39 figures – color photos and drawings of each burial and the belonging inventory.
The Smyadovo cemetery offers rich and diverse evidences about living and funeral rites of the population during the Chalcolithic and Early Bronze Age. A valuable result of the survey of the necropolis is the establishment of multi-temporal burials, outlining demographic and cultural changes - a mystery to modern archaeology and subject of future research and discussions.
